Short Question Tests¶
To use this functionality, you need to have a teacher account. If your account is not a teacher account, see here to learn how to obtain a teacher account.
On Petlja, it is possible to create tests based on questions from the Collections of Short Questions (Collections of Short Questions in Programming for 6th and 7th Grade and Collections of Short Questions in Programming for High School).
Collections are only in Serbian.
All materials that follow official curricula in Serbia are written in Serbian. Competitions on Arena are also conducted in Serbian. With that in mind, we have not translated the Collections of Problems into English.
You can access the page for creating short question tests using this link or by clicking the Short Question Tests button on the dashboard.
Test Generation¶
To generate a test, you need to click the Create Test button on the Short Question Tests page on the dashboard.
After that, a page will open where you need to give the test a name and select the material from which the questions will be chosen, as shown in the following image.
When you select the material and press the show lessons button, all chapters from the corresponding material will appear below. When you select a chapter, three buttons will appear next to the chapter for selecting the number of easier, medium, and harder questions. When you select the number of questions of the desired difficulty, click Create Test and this will create a test with a random selection of questions of the specified difficulty from the selected lessons.
You can also click the “Manual Question Selection” button, which will allow you to view all possible questions from the chapter and manually select them.
By clicking create test, you have created a test that will appear on the My Tests page. On the tab of each test, the name you gave the test, a link for online completion, and the following buttons will be displayed:
The Add to Course button, which allows you to add the created test to a cabinet, similar to what you can do through the cabinets themselves.
The Edit button, which allows you to change options such as the number of attempts, whether students can view their work, whether the order of questions will be random, and allows you to view the question.
Another Edit button, which allows you to start the test creation process again and modify it as desired.
A button to copy the link for completion.
A button to start the test and try it out.
A button that opens the dashboard and gives you an overview of the number of points and success rate of the accounts with which you shared the test.
A button that helps you print the tests.
A button that helps you print the tests with a random order.
Distribution of Tests and Tracking Results¶
The tests you have generated can be used both in the classroom and in online teaching. Specifically, when you click the Print Questions button, you will get a view of all the questions formatted for printing. Additionally, it is enough to click the Show Solution button to see the answer to each question. When you click the Print button, it will automatically open the printing option in your browser.
If you want your students to take the tests online, it will be enough to send them the link to the corresponding test combination (each combination has its own link). When the students log in to Petlja and go to the link you sent them, they will access the test’s homepage, which looks like this:
After that, it is enough for them to click on start test and they can begin working. When they start working, the test will look like this:
At the top, they will see the title of the test, below that, these rectangles indicate how many questions there are, which question the student is on, and which questions have been answered or not. During the test, students can return to the questions they have already completed or go to later questions at any time. When a student finishes the test, it is enough to click on Finish Test, and this will submit their answers for evaluation. At that moment, they will receive a message that they have completed the test.
To see the test results, you need to click the yellow button below the link, marked with a number in the image below.
This will take you to a page where you can see the results for each student who took the test.
In addition to displaying a table for all students who took the test, you can click on the magnifying glass icon in the Details column, which helps you get a detailed view of the given answers for each student individually.
The tests you have created in this way can also be added to your cabinet. You will see that for each combination there is also a Add to Course button, which allows you to add the test to your cabinet in a similar way to what is explained in the part of the instructions where we explain how working with the cabinet looks like, which you can find at this link. Also, for each combination, it is written in which cabinets it is included.
