Possible Situations in Account Management

In this section of the guide, we will address several possible situations related to the use of groups and accounts in the classroom.

Please note that you need a teacher account on Petlja to use the functionalities described here. If you are a teacher and your account on Petlja is not a teacher account, see here for how to make your account a teacher account.

New Student

If a new student uses an account they created themselves or one created by their parents, send them a link to join the group as described in the Groups section. If you decide to create an account for the new student, it is enough to create one account and add it to the group as described in the Account Management section.

Your Student Changed Classes

  1. If the new class is also yours, you only need to change the group the account belongs to (explained in the Account Management chapter).

  2. If the student is moving to another teacher’s class:

2.1. If the student uses a personal account or an account created by their parents (as we recommend), it will be enough for the new teacher to send a link to join the group.

2.2. If the student uses an anonymous account you created and you want the new teacher to retain the ability to see the student’s progress, you can do this in two ways:

2.2.1. The first and more practical way is to add the teacher to your group containing the account you want to transfer as a collaborator. The Groups section explains how to add a collaborator to a group. Once you add the colleague as a collaborator, they will be able to see the student among their accounts and transfer them to their group.

2.2.2. The second way can be used if, for any reason, you do not want to include the colleague as a collaborator in the group. You need to go to the Groups section, create a new group, and be sure to mark Group for collecting statistics. Then return to the account list and transfer the appropriate account to the newly created group. Go back to the Groups section, click Details for the created group, and transfer ownership of the group to the new teacher by entering their username or email address and clicking Transfer Ownership. Once you do this, the new teacher will see the account in their Account Management section and will be able to add it to the appropriate group, i.e., the new class.

Change of Teacher

If there is a change of teacher and the new teacher wants the students to continue using the same accounts, the old teacher (the one who created the accounts) needs to transfer ownership of the group. This can be done by clicking on Groups, then on Details for the appropriate group. Then, in the Transfer Group Ownership field, enter the username or email address of the new owner. Your role will then automatically be set to Collaborator.
